Kate is looking for a Date

Kate Gosselin has been showing off her new $7,000 hair extensions as she tries to get a date.

I feel bad for her especially after her hair became part of Halloween 2009.  She is an attractive woman who has probably reacted poorly to the attention she received from the TV show, her marriage breaking up, and dealing with eight kids.  It appears as though she is trying to be something she isn’t but I hope that is not the case.

Yes men love long hair and I think that maybe hair is like lingerie for men, it needs to be sexy and mystifying for the man.   Some extensions can look cheap and nasty and although admittedly not all extensions look fake and nasty just some badly done and obvious, her extensions look fake. So if they look fake then they are not very nice and who wants a fake girl.

I mean for $7,000 she could’ve got a breast lift, a butt lift and maybe even leg contouring done for that much.  After all, if she got extensions to get a guy, everybody knows that men are either into butts and legs or breasts.

Most guys don’t even notice if they’re extensions or not but in her case, it’s obvious that she no longer has her bald eagle hair-do.  Someone should’ve suggested shorter extensions for a natural looking alternative and then she could grow into longer extensions.

After that she could do other subtle things and grow her hair out.

There are articles about her not really liking her new-do but her hair should be about what she likes, except for the old bal-eagle cut.  Did anyone tell her that extensions can create problems with bald spots after their extensions are taken out?  No longer a bald eagle hair style, just a bald eagle!

It’s cool to take other’s opinion into consideration, but she shouldn’t base her entire decision on someone else’s point of view.

Her situation has taught me to realize that concentrating on my Internal happiness and well being is far more important than how I want people to see me.

Not Selfish, Self-Loving

Yesterday when I sat down to write my Friday blog for the week, I felt angst over what to write.  All week I’d been thinking about a subject yet nothing came to mind.

I instantly stepped outside of myself and said to myself: “Ayshah, why are you putting so many demands on yourself?  You are a perfectionist with everything you do.  This time of year is when you especially do this to yourself.”

I thought: “You’re right, Ayshah!”

Women especially are self destructive.  Everything from body image to the way we think seems to compete with our own selves.

Self-destructive behavior is often a form of self-punishment in response to a personal failure, which may be real or perceived.

My point is that I needed to get off my own back and just relax.  No one is asking or expecting this blog so there really was no need to fret.

My New Year’s resolution is to start to be self-loving and to respect my needs above all.  Self-loving doesn’t mean I am selfish, it just means that I am nourishing myself for the good of those around me.

Happy Holidays!

Le 2e Channel tunnel reliant le Mexique et les États-Unis

Just like the Le tunnel sous la Manche which connect England and France, my title translates in English… The 2nd Channel Tunnel Connecting Mexico and the United States.

Authorities have uncovered an unfinished tunnel under the border between the United States and Mexico. The tunnel, complete with an elevator, electricity and a ventilation system, extends from Tijuana, Mexico to Otay Mesa, Calif., in San Diego.

The tunnel was discovered by Mexican law enforcement working with the San Diego Tunnel Task Force, which includes agents from Immigration and Customs Enforcement, the Drug Enforcement Agency and the U.S. Border Patrol.

The tunnel would have been used primarily, if not exclusively, for moving drugs under the border, according to DEA agents. Thirteen people were arrested inside the tunnel last week and an investigation into others responsible for planning and building the illegal tunnel is ongoing.

Agents say that the approximately 900 feet long tunnel reaches a depth of up to 100 feet.  They estimate it has been under construction for roughly three years and was very close to completion and to access the tunnel, people would step into a bathroom with a thick concrete false floor connected to a hydraulic system that would lower them down approximately eight feet to the first ‘room’ of the tunnel.  The main shaft is about five-feet by four-feet and is solid rock. Agents discovered jackhammers and crude picks inside which were used to construct the tunnel. Electric cables and light bulbs run along one side of the tunnel, as well as pipes for water.  The intricate and detailed engineering has led agents to believe that the workers had prior experience in construction… wow, those agents are pretty smart!  It’s no wonder why we have not won the war on drugs.

I remember Nancy Reagan’s campaign, Just Say No many moons ago which seem to high-light the country’s challenges. This makes me ask why do we just combat the production and trafficking of drugs by go straight to the source?

Why doesn’t the government spend what we would per year fighting drugs on buying out the industry or do as the Netherlands do and create a new drug policy which would be focused on preventing drug use and to treat and rehabilitate drug users, maybe reduce harm to users, possibly diminish public nuisance by drug users (the disturbance of public order and safety in the neighborhood) or most importantly put an end to trafficking of drugs all together.  That would be too easy.

Instead, through its Office of National Drug Control Policy, the federal government exceeds $50 billion in spending per year fighting drugs.  That’s roughly the same thing it spends on the Food Stamp program, which feeds poor Americans, and on our country’s entire General Sciences, Space, and Technology budget.  This is equal to the combined budgets for all of our country’s agriculture, energy, and veteran’s programs.

State and local governments contributed $15.9 billion to the fight against drugs in 1991, the last year for which the federal government tallied that figure.  At that time federal spending on drug eradication was half what it is today.

Of the $50 billion the federal government directly spends each year to control drug use, 61 percent goes for criminal justice and interdiction, while 30 percent goes for treatment and prevention programs.

The California Department of Corrections has an annual budget of $3.9 billion to deal with 161,000 inmates, 46,655 of whom are being incarcerated for drug offenses at a cost of about $1.1 billion each year.  Nationwide, federal government figures show there are more than 1.7 million people in prisons and jails, 22 to 33 percent of those for drug offenses.  At an average annual cost of about $20,000 per inmate, that adds nearly $7.8 billion to the drug war price tag.

A 2008 study by Harvard economist Jeffrey A. Miron has estimated that legalizing drugs would inject $76.8 billion a year into the U.S. economy — $44.1 billion from law enforcement savings, and at least $32.7 billion in tax revenue ($6.7 billion from marijuana, $22.5 billion from cocaine and heroin, remainder from other drugs).  Recent surveys help to confirm the consensus among economists to reform drug policy in the direction of decriminalization and legalization.  The country could really use these funds right now… hello… everyone is tired of the recession!!!

And then there are the soft costs of the drug war, which may be impossible to calculate.  How much have we paid in welfare and social service costs to families once supported by drug profits? How much have we paid in foreign aid to countries that fight drugs at our insistence? How much money have we removed from the underground economy, especially in drug-growing regions like Humbolt County, by destroying million of pounds of illegal product each year? How many police and court officers could we eliminate if there were no drug laws?

Such questions need to be taken into account during any serious debate over whether the drug war is worth its costs.

“He who rides a tiger is afraid to dismount.”

This Chinese proverb reminds me of Tiger Woods’ scandal and his now dog image being portrayed.

According to ABC, neighbors of Tiger Woods shared that before the accident, they heard Tiger’s wife, Elin screaming, “You are nothing but a dog!” Ironically, Tiger immediately ran into a fire hydrant.

He’s now gone from the tiger to the dog.

Does Tiger have pets?  He just had to lift his leg, not run into the fire hydrant to take a drunken leak.  Ha!

Seriously, these are things that happen in life every day, and they have nothing to do with golf.  The other “dogs” in the sports scene get away with the dog image yet Tiger’s in the dog house.  There was a time when many fans, probably Tiger himself, thought he was beyond reproach.  We often forget that celebrities, and in this case athletes, are people, too, and they make mistakes… they are human.

His role model image has taken a beating and apologizing on his Web site for unspecified “transgressions” is not going to redeem his image.

The golfer said he had let his family down and offered fans an apology. He also seemed to acknowledge his status as a much-admired superstar.  “I have not been true to my values and the behavior my family deserves,” Woods’ statement said. “I am not without faults, and I am far short of perfect.”

Everyone is asking, “What is he hiding?” but he’s already caught so he probably just fears his current draping into the scandal.

This just goes to show us that even the most confident looking people have insecurities too and nothing is truly what it seems.

Maybe Tiger should change his name to Cheetah!

“It’s Not on My Radar Screen,” Already She Is Starting the Lies

She dogs people in the Republican Party yet she is strategizing heavily to make sure her number stays up. It may have been a savvy move by Palin to agree to an interview with Oprah Winfrey.

Sarah Palin says that when she got a surprise phone call from the McCain campaign one August afternoon, asking whether she’d like to be on the Republican presidential ticket, the then-Alaska governor says she didn’t doubt for a moment she was ready for the challenge. How arrogant can one be? It’s the second most powerful position in the world and her reply just shows that she has no sense of reality.

“When I got the call, it was not such a shocking call to me,” Palin told talk-show host Oprah Winfrey in a highly anticipated interview that aired Monday. “I felt quite confident in my abilities and my executive experience and I knew that this is an executive administrative job. I was happy to get in there and contribute.”

Nor was Palin deterred by the fact she had five kids at home, including an infant with special needs.

“It never occurred to me that I couldn’t do the job because of children,” she said. “My children are my strength. … They allow me to be grounded.” Naturally being the Vice President of the United States she would have Nannies at her disposal but no one would ever question a man the same question of his ability to do the job if he had five children.

But what did shock Palin was just how much the campaign knew about her and her family before she even formally met with Sen. John McCain to discuss the job. Contrary to what was reported in the media, Palin said, she was extensively vetted, and the campaign knew exactly “who they were getting.” Are you kidding, of course she was vetted!!! They knew everything from soup to nuts as any candidate would. No one with a brain would put themselves into a position where they would be embarrassed in the middle of a campaign. Of course this time it didn’t work.

“After this vetting and the hours of discussion about the background, my record, my family, what I stand for … I thought after all that I better confess it now, the one skeleton is in my closet,” Palin said. “I did get a D 22 years ago in a college course. And I thought that was going to be the extent of the controversy in Sarah Palin’s life.”

One year later, Palin has seen more than her fair share of controversies but has emerged as one of the hottest Republican stars and is among the early leaders for the 2012 presidential nomination.

Her session with Oprah came a day before her already-bestseller “Going Rogue: An American Life” will hit bookstores and Palin will hit the road on a tour of some of America’s most conservative corners.

The book and concurrent publicity blitz have all the trappings of an early salvo in the upcoming race for the White House, but Palin said 2012 isn’t on her radar screen. That’s such bull poop.

“I am dealing with so many issues that are important … and what I am finding, clearer and clearer every day, what I am seeing is that you don’t need a title to make a difference.” More bull poop.

In the wide-ranging interview, few subjects were left untouched, including Palin’s early and frequent clashes with the senior ranks of the McCain campaign. Everyone in the world knows she is a rookie but she hasn’t figured that out yet.

My favorite of all was her resignation as Governor of Alaska. “I resigned as governor of Alaska because I wasn’t going to run for a second term, and I was heading into a lame duck term,” Palin said of that decision, which shocked political observers.

“We came back [from the campaign] to a new normal in Alaska. Everything had so changed in my administration,” Palin continued. “There were so many opposition researchers up there in Alaska that were sent, probably, by the Obama camp. … It was a point where my state of Alaska was being hampered by my presence there.” Even more Bull Poop.

I’ve personally had enough of Sarah Palin and the stories we are subjected to from the talking heads on CNN and Fox. We as a nation are screaming UNCLE! We have had enough. I am a Republican, for the record and if she is the nominee in 2012 maybe the new 2012 movie scenario isn’t that far off. What is next? Bristol does a spread on Playboy?

The best quote I have read to date about her original lie is “She’s not retreating; she’s reloading.” When she states that 2012 isn’t on her radar, she follows with this quote from her dad which clearly indicates that she is prepping heavily.

Carrie, Carrie, Carrie, What a Disaster You Are!!!

The former Miss California, Carrie Prejean appeared on “Larry King Live” on Wednesday and got so upset with King that she accused the veteran talk-show host of being “inappropriate” before threatening to storm off the set.

What irked Prejean was the discussion of how her sex tape may have impacted her recent lawsuit settlement. When she was asked by King why she settled her lawsuit settlement against the Miss California pageant, the interview became bizarre to say the least.  So bizarre that if you didn’t see it, it’s worth the laugh!

 Here’s how it went down…

”You sued the pageant after they fired you, they countersued, and then you accused them of a number of things including religious discrimination, clearly an issue important to you,” King asked. “Why did you settle? You don’t have to tell me the terms of the settlement, but why settle since you had a fight to carry on?”

“You know what Larry. Everything that was discussed in mediation, I’ll say it again, is completely confidential. I’m not, I’m not gonna be able to talk about that.” Prejean retorted.

King continues: “So, you can’t even say why you settled? How does that break what you settled for?”

Prejean then reiterates what she originally said and then follows up with: ”Larry, you’re being inappropriate.  You really are.”

Inappropriate?  Is she stupid?  If she has a handler she needs to fire them.  She is always throwing up all over herself.

Miss California appeared on CNN’s Larry King Live to promote her new book. Prejean believes she lost her pageant crown due to her opposition to gay marriage.  Prejean currently has a new book in stores titled “Still Standing: The Untold Story of My Fight Against Gossip, Hate, and Political Attack.” I will not be making this purchase.

If you recall the story of Carrie Prejean, she was headed to a career at least as a mid-range celebrity until Perez Hilton “outed” her. The flamboyant celebrity blogger was the judge at the Miss USA pageant in February of this year when he asked this now famous question of Prejean, who was Miss California: infamously told a pageant audience that she believed marriage should be between a man and a woman, and that she was proud to live in “a country where people could choose gay marriage or opposite marriage.  She seems so stupid!

“It was later revealed the pageant had paid for her breast implants. She was eventually dismissed from her contract amid allegations she failed to make scheduled public appearances.

Carrie openly stated she believed marriage was between a man and a woman, when she should have said “I believe people have the right to live as they chose” and left it at that. If you look closely, Perez Hilton lowered his head and the pageant host put his finger to his collar as if to loosen it, showing he was nervous.

Outraged Peres went home and created this funny YouTube video.

And that set in motion a national debate which led to the head of the Miss California organization working to remove Prejean from the post, stating that she did not meet all of her scheduled obligations and was not honest about informing them of semi-nude photos of her taken when she was 17 years old.

Back to the Larry King show, gay man from Detroit calls to ask Prejean a question.

“I’m a gay man and I love pageants,” the Detroit caller says. “I’m sure that you, Carrie, have got, you know, great gay friends that helped you possibly win. What would you give them as advice if they wanted to get married?”

By this point, Prejean has disconnected her microphone and claimed to have not heard the question.  When King asks the ex-Miss America to put her microphone back on, she refuses, saying, “you’re being extremely inappropriate right now and I am about to leave your show.

Check it out… here!

Carrie’s behavior went south not so much when she said she couldn’t answer the question, there are ways she could have got around it, but when she then threatened to leave the show. What Carrie should have said – notice that she needs coaching here – is “We discussed some terms that I can’t reveal, but I’m happy with the outcome” or words to that effect. But, she didn’t do that.

I couldn’t believe she was being so childish. At a time when she could have shown grace under pressure, she caved in.

Carrie lost whatever support she had with that display because it reveals her character. She’s going to have to do a lot to regain the trust and support of the American public.

Is she is so fake? – Rihanna Breaks Her Silence, Because She Is About To Launch A New Album?

Despite all that’s happened, Rihanna doesn’t hate Chris Brown. In fact, she still loves him.  She states, “I don’t hate him at all,” she tells Diane Sawyer on Good Morning America. “I actually love and care about him and I’m concerned about him doing well. I want him to do well, have a great career, have a great life and grow up, and just take this as something that you had to go through to grow up and learn.”

Many, including myself were left thinking, nice but it smacks of promotion for her new album.

I instantly thought she could help a lot of women by talking about female pattern baldness too, right???  Kidding.

Why come out now?

Maybe because those terrible songs are not playing out great?

Maybe because they did not sky rocket to the #1 spot?

I wonder if she tried to get on Oprah?

Is her marketing team now on shock mode?

Is she fake and so overrated?

I actually feel like she is too young to really know how to react.  I believe that she needed to take care of herself before she could address anything else.  So what she is in the public eye and she is a person that a lot of young people follow.  Maybe the message we need to recognize is self-worth and being able to give to ourselves before we can give to anyone else.

Hopefully she took the last year and sought counseling and intensive therapy but she is just 20 years old.  If she did see therapy and decided to heal herself first, I totally respect her.  If she didn’t, I hope she does seek help.

At 37 years old, I do not know how long it would take me to come out and talk to people about a situation like that, how can we expect a 20 year old with so much pressure from society to know how to act?

I think it is still too early for people to ask or for her to mention the words forgiveness, reconciliation or rekindle because its just so premature.

Is Islamic Values and Traditions too Strict for the Western World?

When I read this article about an Iraqi American father who mows down his daughter because she had become ‘too Westernized’ I thought what are the first things that leap into most people’s mind when they hear or read about this?  The question that hit me was this one: What, pray tell, are “traditional Iraqi” values? Believe it or not, the early coveragefrom the Arizona Republicalso tap-danced around that subject.

As you can see, the Arizona police departments report does not raise the question on everyone’s mind of whether this incident is linked to Islam. Surely someone most people believe the father must be Muslim or suspect he is part of the local Sunni or Shiite community? And what about the other victim. Note the ages. What is going on here? Might this have been an attempt at an “honor killing”?

Just like the blog I posted on 10/14/2009 01:04 pm, A girl gone wayward, for most American Muslims, the problem is whenever this type of crime involves a Muslim it can serve to elevate the fears of people who may already harbor misconceptions about Islam.  Most people, Muslims included feel as though this act is reprehensible and wrong.

I do not practice the religion but I do understand that the Qur’an specifically states that there is no compulsion in religion, meaning that people cannot be compelled or coerced into being Muslim or adhering to a certain set of rules. My point is this has nothing to do with Islam.  It is just another irrational person who happens to be Muslim.

Confusion in the Air

We all saw the alleged “balloon boy” and heard about how the sheriff was inundated with tons of rescue suggestions. We also know that after Balloon Boy said he thought the whole ordeal was for “the show” Sheriff Jim Alderden decided that it was time to press charges http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20091019/ap_on_re_us/us_balloon_boy .  “We were looking at Class 3 misdemeanor, which hardly seems serious enough given the circumstances,” Alderden said. “We are talking to the district attorney, federal officials to see if perhaps there aren’t additional federal charges that are appropriate in this circumstance, Alderden said.”

Although,  Alderden didn’t call Thursday’s hours-long drama a hoax in his blog he wrote about the incident http://www.larimersheriff.org/BullsEye/, he expressed disappointment that he couldn’t level more serious charges in the incident, which sent police and the military scrambling to save young Falcon Heene as millions of television viewers watched.

Now, has anyone asked whether it was appropriate to consider 6 year olds capacities to encode, store, and retrieve information?   Come on; is a 6 year old able to understand the questions posed to them in a formal setting 100% of the time?  Any logical person would believe that my questions are valid. After watching the interview http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WeYe6VD5A3Q&feature=related and then seeing how sick the boy was during the questioning conducted http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yGgRhPI6_Ts&feature=related by Meredith Louise Vieira during the Today Show it shows that the question exceeded the language capacities of this 6 year old child.  Many 6 year olds for example, show that they are unable to comprehend many aspects of sentence structure that are commonly used in everyday language.

CNN and the media world, was on the scene frightening millions into thinking this poor boy was stuck in the balloon.  Did it ever occur to all the reporters to do research before scaring the souls out of everyone?  How creditable is the media anymore?  Is competition too scarce to verify a story is true?

Lots of questions this week but whether or not the incident was a hoax or not (innocent until proven guilty), is it appropriate for the authorities to blog about the incident?  How much analysis paralysis can convince us that 6 year olds words are sacred?  Are CNN and the rest of the media just as desperate as we are for rumor?

It’s all about hype it seems.

Jon & Kate or Dumb and dumber, plus 8…

Before the whole split, I really thought this show was boring.  The split was needed otherwise it would’ve probably been cancelled soon enough.  Big deal they have 8 kids, which was their choice but probably more of Kate’s.

These two people are probably the most selfish people I have ever seen.  I have never liked Kate and have always thought she was rude, pushy and wretched to some degree.  Jon was this quiet guy who obviously went along with whatever Kate told him to do.  She obviously knew he wasn’t that smart, that’s why she could bully him around like she had.  Problem is she was not smart enough to know how to treat her husband.  He now says he was abused here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1EqotoUGHSM but he let himself be abused for so long, like anybody who gets pushed too far, he became fed up.  Kate does not realize how egotistical she is.  Just look at the merchandise TLC is selling online http://store.discovery.com/?v=tlc_custom-gear_jon-kate-plus-8_kate-is-gr8 promoting that Kate Is GR8… I think Kate Is an Extremist.  She loves the celebrity and will milk this opportunity for as long as she can.

Now Jon’s recent conduct has only made way for Kate to look like she is better than she is.  Go out and showing the world how he does not give a rip about anyone was stupid.  He should be ashamed of himself for taking money out of their joint account.  Now he’s getting sued by TLC?  http://www.accesshollywood.com/tlc-network-says-it-is-suing-jon-gosselin_article_24298 I guess we should not be surprised because he never seemed that smart.  Talk about a boomerang!

In the meantime, TLC is making gobs of money off of ratings and publicity, everyone (including myself) is giving their 2 cents, and no one has addressed the core issues.  The kids do not know what a normal childhood is like because they have been on camera since they were born.  Jon and Kate let children; the show, publicity, and everything else disconnect them but are not smart enough to at least try to reconnect.  TLC could have even produced another season of intensive therapy and couples retreats.  They could even have therapy with the kids too.  Just think about how much money that would bring in.

It all circles back around to money so next time Jon & Kate, be smarter and negotiate by episode and net much more than $1M a year.
