Not Selfish, Self-Loving
Posted in My Pandora's Box on 12/18/2009 02:00 pm by AyshYesterday when I sat down to write my Friday blog for the week, I felt angst over what to write. All week I’d been thinking about a subject yet nothing came to mind.
I instantly stepped outside of myself and said to myself: “Ayshah, why are you putting so many demands on yourself? You are a perfectionist with everything you do. This time of year is when you especially do this to yourself.”
I thought: “You’re right, Ayshah!”
Women especially are self destructive. Everything from body image to the way we think seems to compete with our own selves.
Self-destructive behavior is often a form of self-punishment in response to a personal failure, which may be real or perceived.
My point is that I needed to get off my own back and just relax. No one is asking or expecting this blog so there really was no need to fret.
My New Year’s resolution is to start to be self-loving and to respect my needs above all. Self-loving doesn’t mean I am selfish, it just means that I am nourishing myself for the good of those around me.
Happy Holidays!
